Learning Design and  Technology Experience

My instructional design philosophy is based on the creation of learning experiences based on the students' needs and goals. Regarding learning theories, I have a preference for cognitivism; however, I do not completely reject other theories. I believe that all theories provide important insights into how people learn, and what works for one person might not work for another one. In terms of instructional design models, I think that they should be considered based on the project, needs, and resources. Perhaps with more experience in the field, I would lean towards one specific model; however, at this moment as a novice IDer, I am used to a combination of Dick and Carey and rapid prototyping.

I would say that my journey in the ID field is just starting; I am learning the foundations in order to be able to continue learning about ID.

Content Development for the Center of Literacy and Language Education and Research

For the Center of Literacy and Language Education and Research, I developed content for two of their webpage and worked in collaboration with a web developer in the College of Education. I assisted in the preparation of the content that is visible on the website. I also contributed to the creation of a website for Purdue's CDF Freedom School program.

Module about Present Perfect in English

In the course EDCI-572, I designed and developed a module to teach the present perfect in English for visiting scholars at Purdue University. These visiting scholars usually present projects and project updates. This module was tested with two target learners from Spanish speaking countries.

Module about Retention Skills

As part of the course EDIC-572, I worked in a whole class service project to design and develop a training for volunteer leader from non-profit organizations that are part of United Way. I worked on a module focused on skills to retain volunteers.

E-Learning Module about the Simple Past Tense

In the course EDCI-569, I designed and developed an e-learning module to teach the pronunciation of the –(e)d ending as complementary material for the course LM-1001 from the University of Costa Rica.

Human Performance Technology Project

In the course EDCI-528, I worked on the analysis of a performance gap and design and develop a human performance technology solution for that specific gap. Finally, an evaluation plan was created to determine the effectiveness of the solutions proposed.

Assessment and Evaluation of the Course CSR 315

In the course EDCI-577, a classmate and I designed and developed a plan for the assessment and evaluation of an instructional product. The product chosen was the course CSR 315 from Purdue University. The data is not real, and it was used only for educational purposes.

Educational Video Game Pitch Presentation

In the course EDCI-672, I designed an educational video game pitch presentation. This video game addressed the influence of internment camps during WW2 upon the US. society.

Interactive Educational Kiosk

In the course EDCI-672, I designed a prototype of an interactive educational kiosk about wetlands in Australia. This was part of a small-case design assignment.
